While you’re in town

Things to Do

Many of you are travelling a long way for one evening, so we hope you will stay a little longer. Here is what we love about the Irish Hills and Lenawee County — everything within an easy drive of the venue.

  • On the water
    Chain of lakes

    The Chain of Lakes

The Irish Hills are stitched together by a chain of small, clear lakes, and a slow afternoon on one of them is the whole reason we chose this corner of Michigan. Boat and paddleboard rental details are coming soon.

  • On foot
    Trails and state parks

    Trails & State Parks

There are quiet, rolling trails within a short drive of the venue, most of them easy enough for a morning walk before the day begins. We will list our favourite loops and their trailheads here closer to the weekend.

  • A glass or two
    Wineries and cider mills

    Wineries & Cider Mills

A handful of family-run wineries and cider mills sit along the back roads between the lakes, and June is a lovely time to sit outside at one of them. Tasting room names and hours to be added.

  • Slow browsing
    Antique shops

    Antiquing

The small towns nearby are full of antique shops and the kind of barn sales you only find by pulling over. Half our apartment came from weekends like this, so we consider it required research.

  • An early tee time
    Golf course

    Golf

Several courses in the area are open to visitors and forgiving enough to be fun the morning of a wedding. We are sorting out a group tee time and will post the course and booking details here.

  • A classic table
    Local restaurant

    Dinner in Town

There is one long-standing local restaurant we send everybody to, and it is worth the drive and the wait for a table. Name, address and our standing order to follow.

Some of you know this part of Michigan far better than we do. If there is a lake, a trail, a porch or a plate of something we have missed, send it our way and we will add it to this page.
